Johann B. Hertzog, 1831-1901

Johann (John) B. Hertzog was born in Bechtheim near Worms. He studied law and philology in Giessen, and came to New York in 1856. He was the Librarian at the German Society of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and founded German-American schools in that city. He wrote textbooks, poetry, romances, translation of English and American works.
