The Place of Faith in Wisconsin German Communities (lecture and tour)

Join Mark Louden for a look at the central role religion has played in German heritage communities in Wisconsin. The talk will include the history of two Eau Claire congregations founded by German immigrants: St. John’s German Evangelical Lutheran Church (1872) and Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church (1875).

A 1:30 pm  hybrid presentation at Chippewa Valley Museum will be followed by an optional tour of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 3:00 pm. Donations are requested for participation in the church tour, which will go to support continued operations of the church. Transportation not provided. Sacred Heart of Jesus Church has limited handicap accessibility. Sacred Heart Address: 416 N Dewey St, Eau Claire, WI 54703.
