This presentation covers the visit by a notorious, German antisemitic politician, Hermann Ahlwardt, to the USA from December 1895 to January 1897 and his efforts to kindle antisemitism around the country, including in Milwaukee and the New York metropolitan area.
Matthew Lange is Associate Professor of German at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He received his PhD in German from the UW-Madison in 2006. His research has focused on antisemitism in Germany since the middle of the 19th century, particularly in relation to anti-capitalist sentiment.
