Carl Laegeler, 1854-1914

Born 1854 or 1855 in Baden, Laegeler / Lägeler  came to America at the age of 22. He served as a teacher in Baltimore, Maryland, for 38 years, and was the Principal of School No. 94, at McDonogh and Chase Streets, from 1892. He was a member of the Baltimore Verein deutscher Schulfreunde, the Deutsche Lehrer-Verein, and the Germania Männerchor von Baltimore, Maryland. He compiled the Festschrift zum Goldenen Jubiläum des Germania Männerchor (1906).

Laegeler committed suicide in 1914, leaving his estate to Frau Margaret Oertel, with whom he had lived for the last 14 years of his life.
